Most Played Online Roulette Variations

Once upon a time, the only way to play roulette would involve going to a bricks and mortar casino. Typically, the variety and types of games and the amount that a player could wager were quite limited.

Most Played Online Roulette Variations

But due to the rise of Internet-based gambling, fans can enjoy online roulette on desktop computers and mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones. What's more, there are options to play more innovative game variants, which have different roulette rules or even different roulette payouts.

European Roulette

Many online casinos and land-based casinos across Europe offer this variation of roulette. There is only one zero in European roulette, which means the house edge is pretty low at 2.7%. Here, bets can be placed on numbers 1 through 36, black or red, or even the columns.

Online roulette players might also encounter a "Racetrack" in the European variation. This feature contains special Call bets including Orphelins and Voisins du Zero.

American Roulette

As its name indicates, American Roulette is popular across the USA, although some prestigious casinos in the UK, specifically in London, also offer it. The roulette wheel of this classic Vegas variant has an extra slot, the 00, resulting in a higher house edge of up to 5.26%.

Because of the increased roulette table odds of this variation, it isn't particularly suitable for beginners. However, it's a popular roulette game among high rollers because of the potentially huge payouts.

French Roulette

Having just one 0 slot, French roulette is similar to European Roulette. The difference is that it has the so-called insurance bets, En Prison and La Partage, by which players can get half their money back.

French Roulette rules state that with the La Partage bet, players lose only half of their bet if the ball lands on zero. The En Prison bet allows players to win their bet back if they wager on odd or even and the ball hits zero.

Multi-Ball Roulette

Playing roulette online becomes even more exciting with this variation. Multi-Ball Roulette lets players wager on a roulette wheel with up to three balls at the same time. Instead of just one number, players can bet on multiple numbers. Their winnings are then divided according to the number of balls that are in play.

Multi-Wheel Roulette

This online roulette variation lets players bet on up to eight wheels at the same time. Players place their bets on a single board. However, the outcome will depend on the spread over two or more wheels.

So, if a player hits the same number on more than one wheel at the same time, they win. Many gamblers like this variation because it greatly increases the chances of their number coming up.

Mini Roulette

There are many online casinos offering this variation, which has just 13 slots on the roulette wheel: one zero, six red, and six black. The roulette payouts are also scaled down; Straight Up, for example, has a payout of 1:1 rather than 35.1. It might be a smaller version of the regular online roulette game, but it still offers loads of fun.
